What We Believe at the MAIN STREET Church of Christ
At the Main Street Church of Christ, we are committed to living out simple, New Testament Christianity. Our goal is not to add to or take away from God’s Word but to follow Jesus faithfully, just as the early church did.
The Bible — Our Foundation
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is our guide in every matter of faith, worship, and daily life. When we open Scripture, we do so with the conviction that God is speaking, and we desire to listen and obey.
Our Faith in God
We believe in one God who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God’s Son, fully divine and fully human. He lived without sin, died on the cross to redeem us, rose again on the third day, and reigns forever. Through the Holy Spirit, God works in us to transform our hearts and empower our lives.
How We Are Saved
We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. The New Testament shows us how to respond to the gospel:
- Believe the good news about Jesus.
- Repent of our sins and turn to God.
- Confess our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
- Be baptized by immersion for the forgiveness of sins.
- Live faithfully as disciples of Christ.
Baptism is not an empty ritual — it is a step of obedience where we unite with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
The Church — Christ’s Body
We believe the church is the body of Christ. Each local congregation is self-governing, following Christ as the only head. As a family of believers, we gather every week to worship, study God’s Word, and encourage one another. We also share in the Lord’s Supper each Sunday as the early Christians did.
Elders shepherd the congregation, and deacons serve in various works, according to the pattern found in Scripture.
Worship in Spirit and Truth
We believe worship should be simple, reverent, and Christ-centered. Our services include:
- Prayer and Scripture reading
- Preaching from God’s Word
- The Lord’s Supper each first day of the week
- Giving as we have prospered
- Congregational singing — a cappella, without instruments, just as the early church practiced
Living the Christian Life
We believe faith is meant to be lived out every day. As Christians, we strive to live holy lives — showing love, honesty, humility, and compassion — while standing firmly on the truth of God’s Word. Our hope is to reflect Jesus in our families, our workplaces, and our community.
Our Mission
We believe Jesus has commanded us to share the gospel with the world. Our mission is simple: preach Christ, make disciples, baptize believers, and encourage one another to remain faithful until He comes again.
✝️ This is who we are and what we believe. If you are seeking to know Jesus and follow Him more closely, we would love to study the Bible with you, worship alongside you, and walk with you in faith.
